I spent the month on November in Mexico on a research trip to study the rich tradition of community celebrations and their textile traditions. It was a very inspiring trip. Over the next few days I will post stories of my experiences and photos. I purposely didn’t bring a computer so I wouldn’t be tempted to be half in the virtual world while ¬†immersing myself in the amazingly rich and complex culture that is Mexico. In the next few days I’ll post my experiences of Day of the Dead, The Oaxacan Coast, and my Textile tour of these amazing indigenous artisans creating beautiful work with natural cotton, natural dyes all handspun, and woven on backstrap looms or sometimes pedal looms.
